Traveling During the Holidays

December 23, 2016

It’s this time of year again and Christmas is right around the corner. Many people have not seen their family and friends in the past year and it is time to travel. There are many different ways to travel, such as cars and planes. What many travelers do not know is that, plane tickets increase throughout this time of year.

So where might you be going for the holidays? If it is somewhere close, it might be a good idea to rent a car instead of flying. When renting a car, it might be cheaper to use your own car insurance instead of the car rental’s insurance. According to Les Christie from CNN, he states that a huge majority of consumers are actually covered by their own auto insurance. So if you are renting a car, make sure to check with your insurance agency to see if you are covered, or you may be spending extra money that you don’t have to. In addition, there are ways to find the best price for car rentals. Planning your trips ahead of time can help you save on costs as well. When I rent a car from Fox Rent A Car, I usually rent a couple mouths before hand because as the date comes closer,  the prices go up. So definitely plan ahead and you can save on lots of money.

If you are flying to another country or a place that you are not familiar with, careful not to bring a lot of identity information with you. Having someone steal your identity may be one of the hardest things to recover from. So make sure you only bring the minimum requirements and always keep an eye out for your belongings, like passports, wallets and purses. Unlike car rentals, planes will not wait for you. It is better to go to the airport one hour before your flight to ensure that you board your flight. Also, remember to double check for all your belongings and charge all your electronic devices.

So if you are planning to go somewhere during this holiday break, make sure to be careful and be safe out there. May you have a fun break!
